Coming from a Cantonese background and growing up in Hong Kong, I have been surrounded by culture. With Hong Kong being an developed international hub, I grew up in a city that was colonised by the British, shaping it into a modern Western city in an Eastern setting. Of course, after the Hong Kong was returned back to China, but Hong Kong was able to retain a lot of the culture that was brought in by the British. If you look at the skyline, you’ll be able to spot both incredibly modern buildings and old traditional British architecture.

I feel as if that reflects my style exactly, a mix of both western and eastern style. Growing up in an international school, surrounded by American culture, I definitely am influenced by the American streetwear style, however I also have eastern influences like Korean fashions trends.
Looking through the various fashion brands on Dazed, I attempted to find a tribe that I personally thought described my personality, interests and style the most accurately. Although I believe that I do not only belong in one single tribe, but I believe that Alexander Wang’s clothes perfectly encapsulate my style and aesthetic.
Alexander Wang’s collections are all very monochromatic, almost no colour is used. Wang’s designs are very minimalistic, but he plays with shapes, structures, and detailing- usually with metal. His pieces are incredibly unique to him yet on-trend at the same time.

Chosen Brand Competitor Matrix

Alexander Wang’s prices range from around £350 – £1500, compared to the other brands on the matrix, the prices are relatively prestige and are placed on the more exclusive side.
