Womenswear: Spring 2019- Shapes

This future trend is predicted to consist of trench coats, cargo pants, boxy hoodies and biker shorts.

The iconic and timeless trench coat is a classic yet popular shape, and has been included in this trend due to its large structure and use of fabric. Many of the trench coat pieces seen on the runway have been made from glossy vinyl, making the piece much more modern and contemporary. Moreover, the trench coat is highly adaptable- as a newer update, retailers have incorporated bold prints, colours into their collections as a statement piece.

Cargo pants and shorts will continue to be a trend during SS2019 after going viral during SS2018. Wrap trousers are forecasted to become increasingly popular, being made in a looser fit with large fastenings, utility pockets and oversized buckles, in a range of khaki/nude hues, as seen on the runway.

Biker Shorts are already an incredibly popular shape in fast-fashion, however as spotted on the SS2019 runway, contrasting panels, bold colours and lace inserts have been added to ‘renew’ this garment.  Lace inserts and contrasting panels were noted on the runway – consider details such as these for a fresh update to this already established trend.
