Womenswear: Fall/Winter 2018 – Workwear

The characteristics of this 2018 trend is strong shoulders, structured waists and the use of all-black throughout. This theme draws inspiration from mens workwear- the utilisation of garments are essential to this theme of shapes, like blazers, zippers and shoulder pads. Designers that carry this trend throughout their collections are Alexander Wang and Dion Lee. Both of these designers use zip & chain detailing and padded shoulders to enhance the figure of the body (draw attention to features like the waist and structure of shoulders).

In addition to these looks, designers have been seen throughout fashion week including micro black sunglasses that were a massive trend back in the 90’s, radiating a rather masculine vibe even in womenswear,  further adding to the all-black attire. Screen Shot 2018-11-27 at 12.38.26 PM.png
