We began exploring the characteristics and types of typography, and how each of its variables- spacing, baseline, cap line, x-height, kerning etc. affects the design and make of each font and letter. A plethora of font designing techniques were presented to us- abstract, drawn, graphic, bricolage, collage, visual pun, memphis pattern, negative space, opacity, layers, hand painted etc. This allowed me to experiment with various font designs (from A-Z), each being inspired by a different technique to create incredibly diverse and interesting results.
Above are images of some of the letters that I had completed in my book using techniques like visual pun, hand-drawn, layers, illustrated, bricoalge.
