To begin part 2 of the Graphic Communications for Fashion Industries, we were split into pairs, and asked to create an advertorial for our brand of choice which will then go into Stylist magazine. We were told he had to best emulate the tone of voice, layout and style of the advertorials seen in Stylist. To begin, me and my partner analysed the language used in the magazine, the typeface, layout and most importantly the presentation of the content- as an advertorial, it has to appear like an editorial in a magazine, rather than a direct advertisement. We decided to choose the brand Lazy Oaf, an independent British clothing brand, most known for their use of pastel colours, cute graphics and distinctive style. We chose this brand because it has an incredibly strong brand identity, that was easily imitated.

The advertorial needed a key topic to tie in with the brand, and since the brand is extremely inclusive and body positive, we decided it would be perfect to make the advertorial about International Women’s Day. With that concept, me and my partner began thinking of our shoot location, models and styling. We wanted to shoot in the studio for a coherent and professional vibe. As for models, we had decided that we wanted to shoot with a diverse range of female models, place sized, mixed race, tall to further emphasise the inclusivity of the brand.
